Decatur High Senior Matthew Kimmett accepted an appointment to the USAFA Class of 2030!

NEXT STOP: U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY: Decatur City Schools is proud to celebrate Matthew Kimmett, a Decatur High School- Decatur, Al senior who has accepted an appointment to the USAFA Class of 2030!

"Matthew has earned a rare opportunity," noted Colonel Candice L. Pipes, USAFA Director of Admissions, in his appointment letter. "Only the best of the best are so rewarded."

Out of over 10,000 national applicants, Matthew is one of only 1,100 students selected for this prestigious honor. While he also received offers from the Merchant Marine Academy and top universities such as Auburn and Alabama, his heart was set on the Air Force's "pilot-first" culture.

Matthew will graduate this month with a 4.45 GPA. He earned athletic letters in cross country and golf, and he is an Eagle Scout (Troop 91).

Matthew heads to Colorado Springs this June to study Aerospace Engineering and pursue his dream of becoming an Air Force pilot.

Join us in congratulating Matthew on this "Legacy of Flight" milestone!
